Diving into summer!

With the unofficial kickoff to summer just around the corner, what is on your summer agenda? Travel, family time, relaxing, cooking, reading a good book? I hope all of these make it on your list!

Our calendar is rapidly filling up ... we hope to make a few beach trips, maybe a trip across the pond to catch some tennis, enjoying good meals and fellowship, and catching up on my favorite authors. I always look forward to new summer book releases - I'm a sucker for a good beach read! Two books on my must read list for this summer ... The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews and The Shop on Royal Street by Karen White. 

Between trips, we will be entertaining friends & family at our lake house and pulling out all our easy but favorite recipes. After a long day on the water, we like to keep it simple - ribs, grilled corn, tomato pie & oreo ice cream are my go-to menu. The oreo ice cream is great alone or as a pie in an oreo crust - it is always a big hit with kids AND grown ups! 

Of course it's not a celebration at our house without a little fun table decor featuring Hen House Linens! I love a good patriotic color scheme - perfect for Memorial Day and Independence Day. This year, I ordered a bag of brightly colored bouncy balls to fill clear glass containers (more durable than gum balls) and used white oak leaf hydrangea from the yard. The outside table is set with our scarlet red ruffle runner and latticework ocean blue dinner napkins and the dining table with our devine scarlet quilted placemats, latticework ocean blue dinner napkins, and stardust indigo cocktail napkins. A table setting that will light up the summer sky!
