Host a Low Country Boil with Nautical Style

Host a Low Country Boil with Nautical Style

There are some gatherings that are just meant for summer, and a Low Country Boil is at the top of our list! It's casual, colorful, delicious, and best of all, it brings everyone together around one table.

When planning this Supper Club Saturday gathering, I wanted every detail to feel fun and welcoming - from the first glance at the table to the last bite of berry cobbler.

Start with a Bold Foundation

Our Cabana Stripe tablecloth instantly set the tone for our nautical inspired evening. Red and white stripes paired with blue and white china create a classic coastal look that feels festive without being overdone. Layering woven chargers (shop our favorites here) underneath adds warmth and texture while making each place setting feel complete.

Fresh Flowers Make All the Difference

One of my favorite entertaining tips is to keep flowers simple. Instead of elaborate centerpieces, I filled small glass bottles with fresh cut zinnias and daisies tied with navy gingham ribbon.

The smaller arrangements don't block conversation and are easy to scatter down the center of the table. Plus, they add cheerful pops of color that make the whole table come alive.

Floral arranging tip: Work with odd numbers ... I used 3 vases with about 7 stems in each.

Create Thoughtful Place Settings

Guests always notice the little details. Each place setting included:

These simple layers make every seat feel intentional and special.

Give Guests a Favor They'll Actually Use

One of the most talked about details of the evening was the mini tins of Old Bay seasoning waiting at each place setting.

Each one was tied with ribbon and paired with a nautical flag place card (download these here) featuring each guest's name. It was inexpensive, practical, and perfectly matched the menu. Guests loved taking them home as a reminder of the evening.

Add Personal Touches

The nautical flag theme carried throughout the table - from the invitations and menus to the place cards. Repeating a design element is an easy way to make your table feel cohesive without buying lots of decorations.

Little touches like handwritten place cards, custom menus, and coordinated favors tell your guests you were excited they came. Download everything here!

Keep the Menu Simple

A Low Country Boil is one of the easiest meals to host because most of the work happens in one pot.

Our Menu

  • Tomatoes & Burrata
  • Low Country Boil with shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes (get the recipe here)
  • Mixed Berry Cobbler with fresh cream

Simple food lets you spend more time enjoying your guests instead of being stuck in the kitchen.

The Secret to Memorable Entertaining

Beautiful entertaining isn't about perfection. It isn't about expensive dishes or elaborate centerpieces. It's about creating moments that make people feel welcomed.

Fresh flowers from the garden. A handwritten name card. A tiny favor. A thoughtfully layered place setting. Those are the details guests remember long after the table has been cleared.

So the next time you're planning a summer gathering, don't overthink it. Choose a simple menu, set a beautiful table, and invite the people you love.

Because the best parties aren't remembered for how complicated they were - they're remembered for how they made everyone feel!
