Oktoberfest celebration! - Hen House Linens

Oktoberfest celebration!

Put on your lederhosen, fill your bier steins and get ready to do the chicken dance (you know what I'm talking about if you've been to Helen, Georgia)! To celebrate the world's largest beer festival, we've created a tablescape featuring the traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest colors of blue and white using our latticework ocean blue, ruffled ocean blue and fandango camel linensKeep reading for DIY decorating ideas, fun and festive crafts and our easy Oktoberfest Cheese and Pretzel Board.

A little history lesson ... the "real" Oktoberfest is an annual festival in Munich, Germany that is held over two weeks, ending on the first Sunday in October. Founded as a wedding celebration, the festival is now celebrated all over the world and is a great excuse (not that we need one!) to throw a fun party! Oktoberfest draws more than six million people each year and about two million gallons of beer are consumed!

Our menu is full of the traditional German foods - pretzels, sausages, and lots of beer!

To build your Cheese and Pretzel Board, start with a large tray or platter. We like to group items together using small bowls and dishes. For our board, we purchased mini pretzel twists, large frozen pretzels, 2 types of cheese, and pickles. We places the small dishes and large pretzels on the board, added the cheeses, and filled in the open areas with fresh herbs and mini pretzel twists.

Include easy to create fabric napkin rings in Oktoberfest colors. Thread ribbon through a mini pretzel and tie around each napkin for an extra festive (and munchable!) special detail.

Centerpiece ideas? Pile on the pumpkins and apples. We used a combination of fresh and faux pumpkins combined with festive red apples for the perfect compliment to your autumn decor!

Family and friends will remember their virtual vacation in Bavaria for years to come!
